Apple's macOS Finder & Apple Music Icons are now Registered Trademarks
This week the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office published three of Apple's latest registered trademarks covering the Mac's Finder icon in two color schemes (blue and graphite) along with the multicolored Apple Music iOS icon. Apple Music is Apple's branded music-streaming service. Users select music to stream to their device on-demand, or they can listen to existing, curated playlists. The service also includes the Internet radio station Beats 1, that broadcasts live to over 100 countries 24 hours a day, and the blog platform Connect, that allows artists to share their posts, photos, videos, and tracks with subscribers. Apple Music provides music recommendations based on a user's taste, and the iOS application is integrated with Siri voice commands. The service was officially announced on June 8, 2015, and launched on June 30, in over 100 countries worldwide. Apple Music was recently launched in both Israel and South Korea. Apple filed their Apple Music trademark under international class 009 with the specific description as follows: "Computer software for use in playing, organizing, downloading, transmitting, manipulating, and reviewing audio files and media files; computer software for use in the delivery, distribution and transmission of digital music and entertainment-related audio, video, text and multimedia-content; computer software to enable users to program and distribute audio, video, text and other multi-media content; computer software for accessing, browsing and searching online databases."
Apple sought to have their Apple Music icon registered on December 22, 2015.
Apple's osMac Finder Icon in Blue and Graphite are now Registered Trademarks
Apple filed for the two macOS Finder icons (blue and graphite) on December 19, 2015. On the surface it would appear that the updated RTM now includes coverage for all-things related to 'location" storage, services, searching, organizing and so forth as highlighted below. Apple filed their trademark under international class 009 which covered the following specifics:
