The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 59 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we cover Apple's granted patent 9,430,077 for a tunable shock mount system designed to sit between the cover glass and the body of an iPhone like how an air bag system works in a vehicle. The specialized mount could be instantly inflated if the device senses a drop event determined by its internal accelerometer. Apple's patent describes using exotic materials that could protect the glass from shattering. Patently Apple covered Apple's original patent application in September 2011.
