Apple Wins a Design Patent for Next-Gen Apple Store Shelving for Apple Watch Sport Bands
In May Patently Apple posted a report titled "Apple's Angela Ahrendts gives us a Peek at New Apple Store Concepts Coming to a Store near You." In that report we covered the five new themes coming to future Apple Stores that includes The Avenue, Genius Grove, The Boardroom, The Plaza and The Forum. Prior to Ahrendts show and tell for the media, Patently Apple reported on new store shelving units, next-gen Apple Store designs, next-gen large swinging glass doors, Beats Headphones displays and more. Today the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office published a new design patent from Apple that was officially granted yesterday. The design covers an all-new shelving unit for Apple Watch Sports bands.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and/or any other Patent Office, don't reveal pertinent information about a particular design. All we are given is a series of simple photos and/or line-art graphics of what was actually registered.
While I've yet to see this type of shelving unit at my local Apple Store, I found a pair of photos of this shelving unit online as noted below. The new design now registered in Hong Kong differs in that that Apple has built-in new product draws under the display of the bands instead of showing boxes of the product in an open manner as noted below.
