Apple Granted 44 Patents Today Covering the iPhone 5s Design and Forming Liquid Metal Articles
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office officially published a series of 44 newly granted patents for Apple Inc. today. In this particular report we cover design patents for the iPhone 5s, the Apple Watch Leather loop band and utility patent covering liquid metal blocks. Apple was granted three main design patents today covering the 2013 iPhone 5s, the Apple Watch Leather Loop Band and the iPad smart case.
Granted Patent: Liquid Metal / Amorphous Alloy Component
For fans following Apple's every move regarding liquid metal, there was a granted patent today covering a method of combining discrete pieces of bulk metallic glass (BMG, Liquid metal) in to a BMG feedstock that has at least one dimension greater than a critical dimension of the BMG, by methods such as thermoplastic forming, pressing, extruding, folding or forging. Other embodiments relate to a bulk metallic glass (BMG) component or feedstock having discrete pieces of a BMG, wherein the BMG component or feedstock has at least one dimension greater than a critical dimension of the BMG.
