Daniel Lyons was a senior editor at Forbes magazine and a writer at Newsweek before becoming editor of ReadWrite. In March 2013 he left ReadWrite to accept a position at HubSpot. He was also the man behind the Fake Steve Jobs," character who wrote The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs, a popular blog and parody of Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Dan Lyons just released his new book "Disrupted: My Misadventure in the Start Up Bubble" on April 5, 2016 about his time at startup HubSpot.

Obviously Lyons is trying to kick up some dust in the media to drum up some interest for his book by poking fun at Silicon Valley. He had a taste of doing just that by writing an episode last May for HBO's Silicon Valley (TV series).

When reached for comment about Lyons Recode interview last week, a HubSpot spokesperson told Re/code the company was "disappointed" by Lyons' version of the story. "It's a big leap for anyone to take a short, singular experience at the company and extrapolate it into a broad, critical commentary that disparages so many smart, hard-working, caring people."
