Apple's iOS 9 Hits 84% Adoption Rate vs. 7.5% for Google's Android Marshmallow
As WWDC 2016 draws nigh, Apple's iOS 9 latest adoption rate has climbed to 84%. Next week the Google I/O developer conference begins and their latest OS version branded Marshmallow introduced last May has a dismal adoption rate of 7.5%, less than 1/10th the rate of iOS 9.
Android Lollipop, introduced in 2014, holds 35.6% and KitKat, released in 2013, holds 32%. Android's fragmentation problem was in the news again this week as the FCC is now investigating the problem of Malware due to slow or non-existent security updates from OEMs. Last month we reported that Symantec Korea had revealed that Android malware increased 40% last year to a whopping 13, 738 cases versus 09 cases for iOS.
