Apple's Patent-Pending Battery Technology for the MacBook Wins a Design Patent in Hong Kong
Apple has been granted a design patent in Hong Kong for their 2015 MacBook battery design. Apple's new MacBook debuted on March 9, 2015 wherein Apple noted that they introduced a new battery that maximized every millimeter of space to deliver all-day battery life. Apple likely used their 2012 patent-pending battery for thinner designs that was first revealed back in 2012. Apple notes on the MacBook's webpage that the battery provides a terraced, contoured design that not only fits perfectly inside the incredibly slim MacBook, but also is unlike anything seen before in a notebook.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and/or any other Patent Office, don't reveal pertinent information about a particular design. All we are given is a series of simple photos and/or line-art graphics of what was actually registered.
