Today, Apple's special event not only covered new products but also a number of Apple projects that support green energy, recycling and advancements in medical research that could one day save lives by being able to treat patients earlier and with medicine that is better focused. Apple's new ResearchKit video covers the advances in research for Parkinson's disease, autism and epilepsy using Apple's software framework. During the keynote, we were also told that researches are beginning to realize that there are varying degrees of Type 2 diabetes and by understanding that could begin the process of tailoring better treatments.

See how this success has inspired new ways of understanding and managing medical conditions in Apple's brief 3:27 minute video.

During today's special event, Apple also introduced us to a ResearchKit spinoff called 'CareKit.' The new software framework is designed to help developers enable people to actively manage their own medical conditions. iPhone apps using CareKit make it easier for individuals to keep track of care plans and monitor symptoms and medication; providing insights that help people better understand their own health. With the ability to share information with doctors, nurses or family members, CareKit apps help people take a more active role in their health. You could learn more about CareKit here and here.
