Microsoft's New Ad Campaign Shows Advanced Windows 10 Features Outpacing OS X
Patently Apple first reported in 2012 that Apple was hinting that Siri would be coming to the Mac and likely starting with iTunes. Then in 2014 we covered a more elaborate patent pending Siri invention showing the Siri icon on the Mac's dock for easy access to it, much like Windows 10 use of Cortana. Microsoft beat Apple to the punch last year on this front and today Microsoft has published a series of videos promoting desktop features that Mac's are behind in delivering and they gently knock Apple for not having these advancements.
Microsoft's new videos cover 'Cortana' Searches, 'Windows Hello' using facial recognition to login in without typing in passwords, and 'Inking' the feature that allows a user to quickly draw on a desktop touchscreen.
It's been rumored that Siri will indeed come to OS X this fall. Whether Apple will add Touch ID to Apple's keyboard or Magic Mouse or Magic Trackpad for quicker login is still in the air. The Inking feature on the other hand is likely a feature that apple will pass on.
Back in October Microsoft's Ex-CEO Steve Ballmer told Bloomberg news that only Microsoft could challenge Apple in software & hardware. Microsoft's new ad campaign is now reflecting that view.
