Apple's iPad Air 3 may Offer 4K Display
A new supply chain report surfacing today notes that Apple is expected to unveil new models of its iPad Air in March and production will start in the second quarter, with General Interface Solution and TPK Holding to supply touch panels, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
The new 9.7-inch device will reportedly come equipped with a 4K resolution panel and up to 4GB in RAM, in addition to improved battery life.
GIS will be responsible for LCD modules and touch panels along with backlighting products while TPK will supply touch panels, the makers said.
The makers said they expect a slight on-year increase in demand for touch panel products from Apple in the first half of 2016 due to orders for products equipped with 3D Touch despite the new iPad Air not coming equipped with the technology.
Yesterday 9to5Mac posted a report claiming that an Apple Event is being scheduled for some time in March. At the event Apple will reportedly launch their new iPad Air 3. The report notes that the iPad 3 may sport rear-facing LED flash but no mention of the 4K display. Apple may also at this event unveil the rumored 4" iPhone 5se.
