Apple was Granted 9 Design Patents Today Covering the Touch ID Home Button, Apple Watch Band Attachments & more
Today the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple 53 patents with nine of them being design patents. This IP report covers the key granted design patents were issued today. The first covers Apple's original 'Touch ID' Home Button that debuted on their iPhone 5s. The other designs cover a series of Apple Watch band attachments, the Apple Watch Sports band and finally, a series of Graphical User Interfaces.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and/or any other Patent Office, don't reveal pertinent information about a particular design. All we are given is a series of simple photos and/or line-art graphics of what was actually registered.
Apple Design Patent: Touch ID Home Button
This is Apple's second design patent for this design. The first was granted earlier this month.
Apple Design Patent – Line Art Version: Apple Watch Sports Band
Today's granted patent is the second one for the Sports Band. The one noted above is a line-art version of the Sports Band and Apple's first granted patent for this watch band was posted on December 1, 2015 and presented as a photo series of images.
Apple Granted Several Apple Watch Band Attachment Design Patents
Apple was granted three design patents today for Apple Watch 'Band Attachments' under numbers D748,008, D748,009 and D748,010.
Apple Design Patent: Apple Stock App GUI
Apple was also granted design patents today for their iOS Maps GUI (D748,146), an oddball GUI (D748,147) and a design patent for an electronic device component (D748,062).
