Apple Granted Five Design Patents in China for Cables/Adapters
On Friday the Hong Kong Patent and Trademark Office granted Apple five design patents covering various cables and adapters such as the USB-C to USB Adapter and the USB Charge Cable under a series of numbers from 1501916.1M001 to 1M005. Apple first introduced the new USB-C port with their reinvented MacBook in March 2015. The new USB‑C port provides just about everything you need in a single port such as charging, speedy USB 3 data transfer, and video output in a small, reversible design that’s one-third the size of the current USB port.
Unlike "patent applications," design patents published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and/or any other Patent Office, don't reveal pertinent information about a particular design. All we're given is a series of simple photos and/or line-art graphics of what was actually registered. In the case below, all of the granted patents are generically identified as "Connectors" without any other specificity, function or branding.
Apple's fifth design (1M002) shown as in our cover graphic is a simple variant of their 1M001 design illustrated above.
