With Apple Watch Crushing the Competition, Samsung will turn to Selling Bio Sensors and other Smartwatch Parts in 2016
There have been a number of reports 'guestimating' Apple Watch sales to date and most show that Apple's watch is crushing the Samsung Gear. So Samsung is turning to supplying smartwatch parts to other watch makers including Apple. Their next phase for smartwatch parts was announced yesterday during an investors Forum in Singapore.
Samsung Electronics will commercialize bio-sensors for Smart Watches in early 2016, and its next-generation system semiconductor business is planning to focus on bio-sensors, image-sensors, and mobile system on chip (SoC). Its Smartphone business that is slowing down decided to prepare a breakthrough from mobile B2B.
Samsung's Director Hong Kyu Shik stated during his keynoted that "Bio-sensors will be commercialized some time during the first quarter of 2016. There will be many opportunities in different forms for variety of equipment. It can perform variety of tasks as a Smart Watch-type and it has high chance to grow hereafter since it can be loaded into many equipment and not just mobiles such as smartphones and others," such as robot vacuum cleaners and in vehicles."
