Unless you're currently living in a cave, you're likely well aware that Apple's Project Titan relates to the auto industry in one way or another. In September Apple reportedly gave the green light to triple the size of the Project Titan team to 1,800 employees. One of the first new employees to be made public is Jonathan Cohen who was the director of deep learning for chip maker Nvidia, report's Re/Code. The concept of 'Deep learning' that was borne in British Columbia, Canada, back in 2009 is of great interest to Apple for Project Titan and beyond. They recently acquired Vocal IQ, a company amazingly focused on advancing digital assistant intelligence, autonomous cars and beyond using 'deep learning.' No doubt that Jonathan Cohen will now be joining that part of Apple's Project Titan team. In the video below, Cohen talks about Deep Learning in context to autonomous vehicles.

During this week's Wall Street Journal Live Conference Apple's CEO Tim Cook was interviewed. In one segment Cook noted that "When I look at the automobile, what I see is that software becomes an increasingly important part of the car of the future. You see that autonomous driving becomes much more important. It will seem like there will be massive change in that industry."
