Samsung Now Thinks Profits Matter more than Volume and Prepares new 'Fonblet' for 2016

A new report published this morning states that "Samsung Electronics plans to shift its corporate priority toward profitability rather than seeking growth in key businesses in which it is involved, according to company sources." Samsung has finally woken up and now wants to even clone Apple's business model. Maybe Wall Street will finally have to throw their market leader volume-theory out the window. Samsung shifting its corporate priority to profitability …

Ha!

The report further noted that "The market growth in smartphones, televisions and home appliances, the current key revenue channels for Samsung, has flattened due to heated competition and widened consumer options. This situation is forcing Samsung Electronics to cut expenditure in operations and other fixed costs," said a high-ranking source, Wednesday, asking to remain anonymous.

In July of this year, Samsung Electronics reported a seventh consecutive fall in year-on-year profits with rather unimpressive Galaxy S6 phone sales."

The report interestingly revealed that at the last moment Samsung scrapped a plan to unveil its new Note-branded phone called the "Fonblet" at the Berlin IFA trade show. That could indicate and confirm that their new Fonblet could be a Folding Phablet and that it wasn't ready for prime time. Yet the revelation should be a heads-up for Apple that such a smartphone may be in the works and likely to arrive sometime in 2016 as a new report suggested today.

Samsung is desperately trying to find the next leap in smartphone design to win back the market they lost to Apple with their introduction of the iPhone 6-Plus last year. Samsung's original Note Phablet was a winner for Samsung that took Apple much longer to respond to than expected. Samsung wants to win that market back, so interesting times are ahead in the smartphone leadership race without a doubt.
