Last week we reported that former beats CEO left Apple abruptly. Ian Rogers was part of the executive team that joined Apple last year when the company acquired Beats, the audio group started by Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine, for $3bn. The Financial Times had reported that Rogers was leaving the west coast to work for a Europe-based company in an unrelated industry. Today we learn where Rogers ended-up and it may not be as unrelated as it's being reported.

Re/code reports that Ian Rogers will be chief digital officer at LVMH, the holding company behind iconic luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs and Bulgari." Re/code didn't mention the one brand that's the most important and that's Tag Heuer who is led by Jean-Claude Biver. Yes, the same Biver that loves to crank up the rhetoric against Apple over Apple Watch; the same company that will be delivering a luxury new smartwatch later this year.

Could Biver be thinking of bringing a streaming music app to a future iteration of their luxury smartwatch for next year to really get under Apple's skin? Will Rogers be an advisor to get around any Apple contracts? While only time will tell, I'd say that's exactly what Biver is thinking of by bringing Ian Rogers on board. This could get interesting, so stay tuned.
