After failing in the Device Market, Amazon introduces a 6" Phablet-Like Device for $50
After the Fire phone flop, Amazon reorganized its Silicon Valley-based hardware-development center known as Lab126 and laid off dozens of engineers who worked on the device. The division has developed Fire tablets, Kindle e-readers, the Fire TV set-top box and other devices.
Amazon has curtailed some of its more ambitious projects like a projector device, a smart stylus and 14-inch tablet, as The Wall Street Journal reported last month.
Today, the Wall Street Journal reports that Amazon's long struggle to win in the device market is now going bargain basement with a $50 6" phablet-like device for basics like reading books, watching streaming video and shopping on Amazon.com. You could read more about this story here.
