While Samsung has invented a new TV Remote with Touch Controls, Apple is likely to beat them to Market
Today our Patently Mobile IP blog posted a new report covering one of Samsung's latest inventions relating to a next generation remote controller. While the remote controller could be used in connection with a computer monitor, a digital blackboard and/or used as a means of controlling a presentation, the invention's main focus is squarely on controlling a Smart TV and its various menus. While the remote in some ways may look like the iPod's touch wheel, it does carry its own design flavor. The controller is described as being able to be used with both touch and voice commands. It's been rumored for some time now that Apple TV will be introducing a new TV subscription service This fall. Along with the new service Apple is likely to introduce a next generation Apple TV box and remote controller. While there have been many Apple TV remote inventions covered over the years, one of the latest shows that touch controls could be coming to the next-gen controller and quite easily beat Samsung's invention to market.
