Windows 10 users working with an iPhone will be able to Exchange Music Playlists and Work with Cortana
Last year we reported that Microsoft was bringing Cortana to the Windows Phone. At Microsoft's Build Developer Conference last month it was made crystal clear that Microsoft was bringing Cortana to Windows 10 in general and the desktop in particular as noted in our cover graphic. Now Microsoft is announcing today that a "Phone Companion" app that's built-into Windows 10 will help users connect their Windows PC to whatever phone they own, be it a Windows phone, an iPhone or one that uses Android. The video below explains their new app.
In the video, Windows team leader Joe Belfiore quickly walks us through what the process of adding an iPhone to a future Windows 10 PC will be like. More interesting is the fact that Apple iPhone users creating music playlists in Windows 10 will be able to transfer those lists over to their iPhone seamlessly.
One of the surprises of today's announcements relating to the iPhone is that Microsoft's Cortana will be available to iPhone users with their companion app. The "Phone Companion" app on the PC will help users install the Cortana app. Cortana will of course be limited on an iPhone compared to it running Windows 10 natively, but it will still deliver some interesting functionality.
