A Microsoft Gaming Invention Reveals a Wild Projector Camera
Earlier this month the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office published a patent application from Microsoft that revealed a real science fiction type of invention that they've been working on for years. They call it a "Concurrent Projector-Camera." To help us understand just what that translates to, Microsoft provides us with a patent graphic of a chess game as partly shown in our cover graphic. The system would, in effect, allow your gaming partner's hand to be projected from their computer system over a physical or virtual chessboard on your end via a projection system to make their next moves right in front of you. Is that crazy or what? Is this another Xbox accessory in the works? Only time will tell. For more on this invention, see our full Patently Mobile report here.
