U.S. International Trade Commision to Investigate Apple's Alleged Patent Infringement of Ericsson's Wireless Patents
On February 27, 2015 we posted a report detailing two patent infringement lawsuits that Ericsson filed against Apple regarding wireless technology. We quickly filed a follow-up report the following day titled "Ericsson goes Nuclear on Apple Filing 7 Patent Infringement Lawsuits," which outlined Ericsson case that claimed that Apple had infringed a total of 41 of their patents.
Apple's response has been that Ericsson's patents aren't essential for LTE technology and that the price of licensing them was excessive. The news this afternoon is that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has decided to investigate Apple after two complaints from Ericsson that the iPhone maker violated its patents.
