Apple's Strong Calendar Q1 2015 Sales Acknowledged as a being a Large Burden for Samsung
A report from Korea today notes that UBS is expecting that iPhone sales will reach 58 million this quarter while Barclays and J.P. Morgan are expecting sales of 54 million. Since these are conservative estimates, Apple could possibly sell more. At minimum, Apple is expected to report a 24 percent increase from 43.7 million in sales in Q1 last year.
An industry source stated in the report that at the moment Samsung Electronics is just recovering its confidence through the Galaxy S6 and so the continued uptrend of Apple's iPhones will be a large burden for Samsung.
Yet despite saying that, the source noted that the true market leader for 2015 will only be decided when the Galaxy S6 actually comes into the market. The Galaxy S6 recently earned favorable reviews at the Mobile World Congress 2015 and in media all over the world. Accordingly, Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S6, which will be released at the beginning of next month, will be the major variable in the sales of iPhones after Q1.
For now however, it's the iPhone 6 that will likely be the smartphone leader to kick-start 2015 with Samsung's Galaxy struggling far behind, especially in terms of profitability.
