IBM MobileFirst Enterprise Apps will Include Location Awareness
PCWorld reports today that "Enterprise apps built with IBM's MobileFirst management and development platform can now be made more aware of their surroundings. The new capabilities, included in an upcoming MobileFirst update, could give app users more information about their location and let enterprises more granularly tailor their apps to user needs," said Mike Gilfix, vice president of IBM's MobileFirst platform.
MobileFirst is IBM's package to build enterprise mobile applications that tie directly into the data and business logic of backend IT systems." For more see the full PCWorld report here.
The official IBM MobileFirst Website launched in July and by December IBM rolled out the first wave of MobileFirst solutions for iOS.
During Apple's Financial Conference Call in January, Cook noted that the IBM Partnership was strong. In December the Alliance delivered their first 10 applications. Another 12 apps will be released later this quarter including 3 new industries: Healthcare, Energy and Utilities and Industrial Products. The alliance is on track to have over 100 apps by year end. Over 130 major companies are expected to adopt the MobileFirst system using iDevices this year alone.
