USPTO Publishes Apple Touch ID & Orientation Audio Patents
On January 22, 2015, the US Patent & Trademark Office published a series of three new Touch ID patent applications from Apple in addition to one that covers orientation based audio that Apple first revealed back in 2013.
There were three Apple ID related Patents published today that are highly technical in nature. For our engineering fans who love to drill deeper into Apple's every patent, you'll find links to each of these new applications that you'll be able to check whenever you have the time.
Controllable Signal Processing in a Biometric Device
Apple's Patent Abstract: A processing channel is operatively connected to a biometric device. The processing channel includes an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) connected to at least one of an amplifier and an offset circuit. Biometric signals representing captured biometric data, such as a fingerprint image, are controllably fitted into an input range of the ADC. The ADC input range can include one or more removed ranges and one or more adjustable allowed input ranges. One or more channel parameters are adjusted until a desired number of biometric signals are included in the one or more removed ranges.

Apple Revisits their Orientation-Based Audio Invention
In May 2013 we posted a patent report titled "Apple's Intelligent Orientation-Based Audio Coming to iDevices." The patent application revealed an all-new intelligent audio system that Apple could use in future iDevices that is based on a device's orientation rather than depending on its fixed speakers. Depending on the way the user holds their iDevice and which content they're enjoying, Apple's new audio processing router could ensure that the very best audio output configuration is chosen automatically using its intelligent audio mapping system.
You could review our previous report here or review Apple's current continuation patent application under number 20150023533. Although it's usually a positive sign that a project is still alive when Apple updates an invention, we were unable to establish what additions or changes Apple has made to this latest application.
