MailOnline's CEO Verbally bombed all Apple Watch Competitors
MailOnline is the world's biggest English language newspaper website. In June the company announced the appointment of Jon Steinberg as its North America Chief Executive Officer. Jon is a world-leading, senior digital media executive who joined the MailOnline North America from BuzzFeed where he was President and COO. Jon is a CNBC contributor to Squawk Alley, the network's technology and media hour broadcast live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Today Steinberg laughed at Apple Watch competitors by saying that the Apple Watch will destroy them all.
Steinberg's specific statement of interest was as follows: "The amount of tracking devices and wrist devices is almost mind-boggling to me. I've seen five or six that have been launched right now and Apple, in my opinion, is going to basically destroy all of these guys. None of them are really priced that much cheaper, they're all at about $150 or $250. If you're going to buy a wearable, and it's early debated how big that market is, I don't know why you possibly buy one of these. All these basically do, most of them, are accelerometers, all they do really is track how much you move, the functionality is very limited, so I think if you're going to buy one of these it's going to be Apple. It's coming out in March. I don't see people buying these other devices we're seeing at CES."
I don't know if Steinberg is an AAPL investor or an iPhone lover, but he absolutely annihilated Apple's competition in one massive verbal bombing. Cheers Jon.
