Apple's Homepage Honors Martin Luther King Day
Martin Luther King Day is a federal holiday held on the third Monday of January. It celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential American civil rights leader. Today Apple's homepage is dedicated to the memory of Martin Luther King with a photo and a message as noted in our cover graphic.
Apple's homepage notes that "Today we reflect on the life and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the work that continues in services of the broader concerns of humanity."
Martin Luther king was the chief spokesman for nonviolent activism in the civil rights movement. His nonviolent approach earned him a Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. We all hope that the civil rights movement will continue King's legacy and ensure that that the despicable recent acts in Ferguson, Oakland and elsewhere aren't repeated in the future.
During last year's Charlie Rose interview with Apple's CEO Tim Cook, it was revealed that Cook has photos hung in his office of his personal heroes Robert Kennedy and Rev. King.
