TSMC's Net Profits Soared in Q3 due to Apple's iPhone 6 Order
TSMC Rides High on iPhone 6 orders: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC), the world's largest contract chip manufacturer, rode heavy demand from smartphone clients to a record net profit in the third quarter, handily beating market expectations.
News from Taipei today reveals that Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) announced that net profits rose to a new high in the third quarter, propelled by a massive computer-chip order for Apple's new iPhone 6. TSMC revealed that net profit rose 47% over last year.
TSMC also benefited from making chips that go into the iPhone from Qualcomm and Broadcom. That alone contributed to 15% of sales.
