Apple's New Creative Director Arem Duplessis Starts in February
Mediabistro's Unbeige is reporting today that Apple has hired NY Times Magazine Arem Duplessis as Creative Director who replaces Scott Trattner who was hired by Facebook.
Officially, Duplessis will join Apple in February. Duplessis' new position will reportedly put him under Phil Schiller, Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing.
In the bigger picture, we know that Apple has a special projects team forming. In early July we learned that Apple hired Ex-Yves Saint Laurent CEO Paul Deneve to work on "Special Projects." Then the news of Bob Mansfield, Senior VP of Technologies was shifting to work on "Special Projects." Later, Apple hired one of Nike's top Fuel Band Designers Ben Shaffer to work on "Special Projects." Apple appears to be building a new creative core.
In October Apple hired brilliant retail star Angela Ahrendts former CEO of Burberry to oversee the strategic direction, expansion and operation of both Apple retail and online stores.
Arem's reputation as a great design director at The New York Times Magazine will no doubt add some fresh creative genius to future Apple ad campaigns and beyond (No pressure, Arem – ha!).
