Apple may be able to Sell More iPads in Q4 than Expected

10. News
Taiwan-based tablet supply chain makers are reporting that Apple will ship closer to 23-25 million iPads in Q4 compared to the initial estimate of around 20 million, reports DigiTimes. The report also claims that aggressive promotions led to Best Buy and Walmart selling out of iPads on Black Friday. On the flipside, Samsung is forced to slash prices and give their tablets away for free just to move them.

In contrast to Apple's success, DigiTimes is reporting that Samsung has slashed the prices of their 7 inch Galaxy Tab 3 to $149 or about half of what a non-Retina iPad mini goes for today. In addition to slashing prices, we reported yesterday that Samsung had worked with Montreal's Videotron on Black Friday to give away a Galaxy Tablet when customers signed up for a 2 year smartphone contract.

I highly doubt that Videotron was the only retailer that got that deal from Samsung. Samsung's philosophy of late is simple: if they can't sell them, then give them away to make it look good on paper. Until Wall Street punished them, this nonsense is bound to continue. In the meantime, Apple is pushing the pedal to the metal this holiday season to get more iPads into the hands of paying customers.
