Verizon's Strong iPhone Sales this Quarter a Good Sign for Apple

U.S. Cellular set to enter the iPhone Market November Eighth

1a. US Cellular to sell iPhones Nov 8, 2013
During a conference call in 2011, the former CEO of U.S. Cellular, Mary Dillon, stated in the company's third-quarter earnings conference call that it had turned down Apple's iPhone because it did not make sense for the company economically. Dillon said that the carrier had the opportunity to sell the iPhone but that Apple's "terms were unacceptable from a risk and profitability standpoint." Well, that all changes on November eighth.

U.S. Cellular's website now has a multi-panel announcement showcasing the iPhone 5S and 5C along with full plan details. Apple has really gotten down to business in the last month signing on Japan's largest carrier NTT Docomo and China Mobile which will begin selling iPhones in China as soon as the country's 4G licensing is ironed out.

Their former CEO Mary Dillon stepped down in June of this year. Perhaps the new CEO, Kenneth Meyers, a long-time wireless and telecom executive and a veteran of Telephone & Data Systems, U.S. Cellular's parent company, sees the world a little differently.

In Other iPhone news today, South Korea's two mobile carriers -- SK Telecom Co. and KT Corp. -- said they have begun taking pre-orders for Apple Inc.'s latest iPhone models that are expected to hit the local market later this month.
