Apple's Aggressive iPhone Trade-In Program Arrives as Forecast
In June we reported that an aggressive trade-in program was brewing at Apple. The report pointed to AT&T offering a similar trade-in program offering up to $200 for a working iPhone 4 or 4S. Today the Wall Street Journal's Digits blog is confirming that Apple's trade-in program starts today and it is indeed aggressive.
Apple will reportedly pay as high as $280 towards a new iPhone contract. Digits reports that an Apple spokesperson stated that "In addition to helping support the environment, customers will be able to receive a credit for their returned phone that they can use toward the purchase of a new iPhone."
The news confirms MacRumors report that we covered on Monday that Apple had begun to prepare their store employees for the new program.
The timing is just right as Apple's new iPhone 5S is due to arrive in early September.
