Apple Wins Design Patents for iPhone 3GS & "Slide to Unlock"
The US Patent and Trademark Office officially published two newly granted design patents for Apple Inc. today. The first covers Apple's 3GS iPhone crediting the late CEO and cofounder Steve Jobs and the second covers the iPhone's "Slide to Unlock" feature which has had variable success in their legal battles against Android OEMs.
Apple Granted Two Design Patents Today
Apple has been granted two design patents today which cover their famous iDevice "Slide to Unlock" feature and their 3GS iPhone which posthumously credits Steve Jobs, Apple's former CEO and Cofounder.
For the iPhone 3GS design, Apple credits the late CEO Steve Jobs, VP Industrial Design Jonathan Ive and team members Bartley Andre, Daniel Coster, Daniele De Iuliis, Richard Howarth, Duncan Kerr, Shin Nishibori, Matthew Dean Rohrbach, Peter Russell-Clarke, Douglas Satzger, Christopher Stringer, Eugene Whang and Rico Zorkendorfer as the inventors of Granted Patent D675,612, filed in Q1 2011 and published today by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
For the "Slide to Unlock" design, Apple credits Freddy Anzures, Bas Ording and Marcel van Os as the inventors of Granted Patent D675,639 which was filed in Q 3 2011 and published today by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
