Apple Files for Retail Cable Symbol Trademark in China

1. Apple Files for Cable Symbol Trademark
On February 27, 2013, The Hong Kong IP Office's Database shows that Apple has filed for a retail "cables" symbol trademark as noted above. It's plain, simple but legal. Considering that Apple ended up paying $60 million to use their iPad brand in China, you could understand why Apple, going forward, will be sure to trademark anything and everything in China A.S.A.P.

Apple filed their trademark application 302530827 under the sole International Class 009 which covers the following:


Electrical and electronic connectors, cables, chargers, and adapters for use with computers, digital format audio players, digital audio recorders, digital video recorders and players, cameras, global positioning system (GPS) devices, telephones, computer peripheral devices, and handheld mobile digital electronic devices capable of providing access to the Internet and for the sending, receiving, and storing of telephone calls, faxes, electronic mail, and other digital data; computer peripheral devices.
