T5 1PBLK2 - Patently Informative
BrightWire, a business-to-business resource for portfolio managers, is reporting this morning Yonhap News in Seoul and the Commercial Times in Taiwan are reporting that Apple has already requested Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) to produce 28-nanometer (nm) A6X processors. As such, TSMC is predicted to pilot the production in 1Q 2013, months ahead of schedule. The application processor (AP) is likely to equip Apple's new iPad and iPad mini to be released this year. Commercial Times also forecast that TSMC will supply 20nm A7 processors to Apple, though this would depend on the quality of the AP.

In other Apple news from Asia we learn that Apple will begin streaming Japanese language e-book titles to the iPad and iPhone sometime in early Q1 2013 making its entry into the country's e-book market. Apple will receive content from several major Japanese publishing companies including Kodansha, Shogakukan and Kodakawa, reports Nikkei Media in Tokyo.
