Apple's Siri Trademark Filing Lists Some Interesting Applications
On the very day that Apple's first patent application for Siri surfaces at the US Patent and Trademark Office, we just happen to find that Apple has filed for the Siri trademark in Hong Kong China. What's interesting here is that there's a certain degree of symmetry between the two applications which may reveal some of the core applications that are on the minds of those sitting at the round table in Cupertino.
Apple's Trademark Application In-Part for Siri
Apple's trademark filing for Siri has surfaced at the Intellectual Property Department in Hong Kong China under application 302142378. The timing of this application appears to have been highly coordinated with their published patent application for Siri in the US this morning. What's interesting here is how some of their future applications that were found in their patent popped up in their trademark application as well. The ones that instantly stood out include Restaurant Reservation Services: This is supported in Apple's patent application under FIG. 8 which was presented in our morning report. This category also represents hotel reservation services, travel agency services and the like which Apple has shown some interest in; secondly, television programs; thirdly, computer-based educational, teaching, and training services. But if you take a little time to review the possibilities lost in Apple's International Class detailing, you could find some other interesting ones as well, such as gaming, social networking and future advertising twits for iAd.
