Apple Files for Launchpad, Mission Control & Packaging Protection
On June 13, 2011, the US Patent & Trademark Office published Apple's latest trademark applications for "Mission Control" and "Launchpad." Apple's trademarks represent two of the higher profiled features that are coming to "Lion," Apple's upgraded operating system due this fall. Additionally, China's Patent and Trademark Office has published two design patents covering Apple's retail packaging for the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle. Apple has the most elaborate retail packaging for mobile devices in the computer industry.

Apple asserts a claim of priority based on Jamaican application number 42871, filed 10/20/2010.
It should be noted that Apple filed for Launchpad and Mission Control in China back in October 2010 under International Classes 9, 28, 38 and 42 in great detail. Mission Control was also filed in Europe in April 2011 under classes 9, 38 and 42. In contrast, Apple's US filing has only been filed under class 9.

Apple's iPod Nano & Shuffle Retail Packaging Registered in China
Apple's retail packaging design patents for the iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle were registered in China under application numbers 1100327-6M001and 6M002. The design patents were originally filed in February, published on June 06 and made public late last Friday. Apple has the most elaborate retail packaging for mobile devices in the computer industry.
