Earlier today Patently Apple posted a patent report covering the new GPS system for Apple Watch Series 2 which includes a new element to provide the wearable device with more accuracy. In other intellectual property (IP) news today Apple filed a series of new iOS 10 trademark applications in Europe and Hong Kong. The one trademark filed in both countries was for the new iMessage feature called 'Tapback' which allows users to quickly respond to an iMessage from friends, family and colleagues with a quick tap on symbols noting approval or a heart or and exclamation mark and so on. The other two trademarks filings covered the Apple News logo and words "Today at Apple."
Trademark application 303965086 was filed in Hong Kong and application 016053589 was filed in London, England today for "Tapback." Both were filed under International Class 9. As noted below, Apple also filed for two additional trademarks in the UK covering the Apple News logo and "Today at Apple."
