It's being reported today that Taiwan-based supply chain makers are claiming that Apple's MacBook's will outsell notebooks launched by other vendors in terms of second-quarter shipments. Shipments of other notebooks in the second quarter are expected to grow only slightly or decline on quarter.
Sources specifically claim that there'll be 3.6 million MacBook notebooks shipped in the second quarter of 2014, increasing 28.6% on quarter. MacBook shipments in 2014 were originally estimated at 10 million units, slipping 16.7% on year. However, with stronger than expected shipments in the second quarter, MacBook shipments in 2014 will likely now reach 12 million units.
Apple updated their MacBook Air late last month with a faster processor, lower prices and free iLife and iWork apps which likely gave their stats a nice boost.
