Apple is about to invade the Korean market and get in Samsung's face by releasing their hot iPad Air and iPad Mini with Retina on December 20. Many in Korea will be paying attention to see if Apple's new iPads will be able buck their stagnating market conditions. Many in Korea are looking forward to the new iPads because of their success in the US market on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
According to the Korean telecommunication industry Apple will release 'iPad Air' and 'iPad Mini2 Retina' in Korea on the December 20th 2013. One Korean industry insider stated that the "iPad is the most popular in the tablet PC market and has the most fans, so it will affect the sales substantially."
In the second half of this year a lot of new tablet PCs such as 'Nexus 7' from Google, Galaxy Note 8.0 and 'Galaxy Tab 10.1 2014 Edition' from Samsung Electronics, G Pad 8.3' from LG Electronics were released, however, the sales were hardly affected, notes the etnews report.
In October we noted that iPhone Mania had struck Korea with pre-orders selling out in seven minutes flat. The Korean report at the time stated that "there are maniac consumers for the Apple iPhone in Korea." Whether that will translate into Apple's fanbase (or maniacs) falling in love with the new iPads as North Americans have is unknown at this time – but we're certainly cheering them on.
