Last month we took a look at various angles to future Apple gaming and there's been ongoing buzz about iOS game controllers coming to market soon. A new gaming controller from Logitech was shown on @evleaks twitter site earlier this afternoon as first noted by TechCrunch. As noted above, Logitech's idea is simple and yet it could be quite advanced if game developers take advantage of the iPhone's touch screen for added game menus and a place for gamer supplies like ammo, health and so forth. Whether the controller will work with all iPhones or only the new iPhone 5S with its 64 bit processor is unknown at this time.
The gaming controller would be great for high-end first person shooters and yet, it'll be close to useless unless there's a big push to get top games released for iOS at the same time as PS4 or Xbox One. Do you think we'll ever see that happen?
Well, if we do, it'll only fly if iTunes offers gamers the ability to "rent" games as they do for movies. With so many gaming rental outlets going out of business, there's a huge gap that Apple could fill here in the rental space. Anyways, time will tell. For now, it's looking pretty good that we'll see Logitech's iPhone game controller roll out this holiday season. Do you agree or disagree? Send in your comments.
